Nearly close to finishing painting the axe and the edges and such. Though in the lighting it does look the right color, sadly it turned out to dark. I'm actually going to have to repaint it all, and hopefully very soon. I'm going to need this done by ECCC which is in exactly 10 days. After painting the base of the axe, I will then paint the string holder silver, and glue on two silver nubs because basses have those.
So for about a month, I have been working on a prop with my grandfather. My grandfather helped me make the xe shape which is made of foam. The shape actually turned out a bit wider than the ukulele itself so we had to make a 1/2 inch foam piece in the same shape as the ukulele. The prop is for my Marceline Abadeer cosplay, which she possesses a bass axe. Usually, the cosplayers for Marceline just make their prop out of wood, or cardboard, plus a few plastic strings. That makes their prop unplayable, so I thought it would be unique if I were to have a playable prop in my case. Except, I don't know how to play the bass, but do know how to play a ukulele for I have been playing it for about 3 years now. Next step, I shall be filling in the gaps between the foam and ukulele. Here is the first and last draft of the final portrait. So far it is turning out fairly well and I think this is the best one yet. You can some what recognize me. Except this time, I didn't follow the rule of working light to dark. That probably will cause problems to the final product sadly. Next photo will be the final product! Now that I finished the coloring of the face and am still sticking to the rule of light to dark, it looks very creepy currently. The nose is higher than expected, but it is too late to go back now. I plan on to draw the hair line down lower than what I originally planned out with the white chalk sketch. Started to work on the background barely. Next photo will be the final! I missed a couple days of school, so I got rather behind than everyone else. This picture was taken at the end of the class, so I didn't get to finish blending the background. Plus, I was still in the process of working on it. Next photo will be the final product of my first portrait of this project! |
