Compared to the previous portrait to this one, I am slightly getting better at using the chalk. I like how the background turned out because it was close to the actual picture. I also liked how the hair turned out as well, except for the fact at the hair line it is off. My face shape is still a bit odd looking, and it looks scary to be honest. I believe I didn't finish coloring the over jacket by the looks of it, or it could have been the lighting at the time. I also didn't fully blend the edges in some places.
Here is the first portrait of the project. There are countless problems with it now that I look at it. The hair is off, and looks a bit small. The shading is okay, it's not the right hues of each color and such but it was the best I could do. The shoulders are very funky. The blending isn't so good either. Also , my face shape is wrong. I'm not proud of the outcome at all, except since I had missed a couple days and the fact that I am slow affected my results. This is actually the first time I have used chalk really for any project. Well this project is not quite done just yet. I mean it's done but I still could tweak it here and there. I actually liked how this turned out, and I had a lot of fun doing this project!! Except I did mess up on coloring a bit on the lightest layer of pink/salmon. Like there are a few clouds that stand out because they are the wrong color - either purple or wrong shade. At the bottom of the project where the darkest blue present in the picture I was thinking about adding lighter blue there as well, but never got to chance to. That was the thing I wanted to tweak the most, alongside the miscolored clouds. I didn't add the title of my blog to the picture because it wouldn't look as nice. The blog format I am using currently has it saying "Creative Mess" in white so if I am able to center that on this picture I think it would look nice. That is why I didn't add a lighter hue of purple around the middle at all. Actually at first, my original plan of this project was to paint something to relate to flowers, because I really love flowers... And plants. Though I did start painting it, I actually changed my mind because of this second idea I thought of, which led to this final. I will finish the other side project between the assigned projects hopefully. |
